Its day 10 of our featured artist/group for the month of August, so today I have decided to continue with the singers. John Doyle from Dublin is a singer song writer and guitarist and has been involved with some of the biggest names in Irish music like Mary Black, Michael McGoldrick and Andy Irvine. John’s musical influences range from English and Scottish folk singers to fellow Irish musicians. Possibly the biggest influence in john’s music was his father Sean Doyle. He went on the road as a professional at the age of sixteen with the group Chanting house. He later went on to form the highly acclaimed group Solas John has appeared on TV programs such as the NBC’s The Today Show. John’s talent earned him not one but three NAIRD awards and as if that wasn’t enough John has also received a Grammy nomination for the band’s first recording Solas. His talents don’t stop there though, he has worked as music director for the iconic folk singer Joan Baez, played guitar for several musicians like British folk singer Kate Rusby, featured in several film soundtracks as well as composing music for films and plays. John appears regularly on BBC Scotland’s Transatlantic Sessions. John has also performed at the Glasgow Celtic Connections Festival.
I could go on and on listing John’s many talents but I think you should check them out for yourself by visiting his website
